Link Exchange with Clever Marketing

Why exchanging links

Before Google came on the market , link popularity was being used by one or two search engines as part of their algorithm to  determine the rankings for given search term. Then when Google arrived with their link-based PageRank, link popularity took off and became an absolute essential ingredient in achieving top rankings.

Some engines simply counted the number of links coming into a page (inbound links), but Google took the idea further. Each inbound link comes comes from a page which itself has inbound links. The more inbound links on the linking page, the more important that page is and, therefore, the more important the link to our page is. So Google gives more weight to inbound links from important pages that it does to inbound links from lesser pages.


Google is the world's number one search engine, and currently provides the results for around 80% of all the searches done in the world. Because of that, it is vitally important for any website that relies on search engine traffic to do well in Google. Ranking  well in Google means making the site 'important' in Google's eyes and, to do that, the site must have good inbound links - as many of them as possible, and preferably from important pages (pages with medium to high PageRank values).


Linking Profil

Each inbound link counts in a differently. There are actually many factors which determine the quality of a link. Sometimes it takes only a few links to get good rankings simply because they are from the right pages. Here a list of factors Google uses to determine the ‘weight’ of a link:

  1. PageRank
  2. Age of the link
  3. Relevance to the topic of your site/page
  4. How many other links are on that same page
  5. If the site is an authority on that topic
  6. How old is the site/domain

Since a major update last year called, the “Jagger update”, Google implemented a system whereby a link gets devaluated if reciprocated. The reason for that was too stop the excessive link exchange practises from webmasters and website owners. This means in order to have a good linking profile which helps your rankings and is useful for users you need to take into consideration the above points. Simply exchanging links with any given website may do more harm the good.

 

Link exchange with Clever Marketing

At Clever Marketing we always look for link partners to link with this and other sites we own and operate. We always try to avoid direct reciprocal links whenever possible. Ideally you own two or more related websites and we arrange the links in the most suitable way.
We are only interested in exchanging links with sites which fulfil the following:

  1. The page must be indexed in Google and should have some Pagerank
  2. The site must be related to one of the topics of our sites
  3. The page should not have more then 50 outbound links on it
  4. Our link must be on a static page, not a link list which dynamically moves links down to pages of lower value over time.
  5. The link page must be reachable from the index page
  6. We don’t accept sites in frames of entirely in flash.
