Since the year 2003 Clever Marketing has a co-operation with Netapplications in California providing web statistic analytics as a white paper partner with the option to brand the product as a Clever Marketing product and sell it as such. All this time we included these very comprehensive stats analytics in our SEO services for all our clients. We decided now to change provider for several reasons: 1. The price we are charged is based upon amount of clicks tracked. The more traffic the more we paid. That was ok, in the beginning when we just started and logically did not have much to track.. However, in the meantime the sites we track and analyze, including our own sites, easily surpass the 2.000.000 page views per month, by now, resulting in ever rising bills every month. 2. In the last months we experienced a certain unreliability of the service in terms of uptime for two specific reasons. Sometimes the system was simply not able to cope with the traffic and delivered incomplete information on sites with a lot of users calling the same pages at the same time. In addition the company deactivated several times the system when we had disputes about the invoices and/or late payment from our site despite of a long customer relationship with us.
After careful assessment of many other options available we decided to use the market leader in traffic analytics: Google. The advantages are obvious: 1. Its free, Full stop. No matter how much traffic. As business people, cost is an important factor when choosing a provider. This move will save us several thousand Euros per year.
2. It is as comprehensive as the package we were using until now.
3. Allows better tracking of Adwords campaign results versus traffic from organic search results.
4. Clients may continue their account even if they do not renew a contract with Clever Marketing. In this week we will successively open accounts and implement the necessary scripts in all our clients’ pages. This task should be completed by the end of the week. Until such time the OLD accounts will not be active and not track any hits. We will provide you with the new user names and passwords at the week end. A good overview over the service, its technical background and limitations can be found here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Google_Analytics We also recommend the blog for Google Analytics users http://analytics.blogspot.com/ And of course the official Google Analytics web site: http://analytics.blogspot.com/
I think we don’t need that bit in this case, I suspect everybody heard of the company. Since 1999, Net Applications has been a leading source of applications for webmasters and eMarketers. Headquartered in Aliso Viejo, California, Net Applications distributes its services through over 7,000 partners and affiliates. These services may also be found at Hitslink, Submitter, 1st Warning, SearchTerms.
